The "authentic" versions are attempts to recreate the particular sound of the chimes in the station, including the slightly off-tune door chime and soft reverb on all tones to simulate being in an empty station. I made both "authentic" and "simple" versions of the alert sound and the door opening and closing chimes. Now you too can dread service interruptions and experience that Pavlovian response-"run.RUN, the doors are closing SHIT SHIT SHIT"-even when you're not riding the TTC! Not only that, but they are iconic sounds, one of the unique aspects of life in Toronto. This makes them ideally suited to use as ringtones. The sounds of the TTC were designed to cut through the chatter and noise of busy stations.
Looped versions repeat four times, lasting about 23 seconds. UPDATE 4: Now includes longer, looped versions of the door closing sounds. Enjoy! Will update with longer (repeated) tones in the near future. UPDATE 3: Made freely available until download credits run out. UPDATE 2: Now also includes a streetcar gong sample! Play several times in a row to simulate streetcar bunching. UPDATE: Now includes versions for the older, decommissioned H-series trains, a half step down from the ones used on the current T-series trains! For added nostalgia!
